America has given status to the Strategic Trade Authorization country, now HighTech products will be cheap
Washington: America has rated India as the Strategic Trade Authorization-1 (STA-1) country. There can be a new place in the relations between the two countries. With this move of America, India will now be able to purchase technical products at cheap prices. India is the first country in South Asia to achieve this status.
India is the first country in South Asia to achieve this status.
Prior to this, the US had rated India as the Major Defense Partner in 2016, which allows India to buy more advanced and sensitized technologies from America and also included India in the list of the nearest countries of America.
US Commerce Secretary Wilber Ross announced on Monday that the US has decided to give India the status of Strategic Trade Authorization-1. He said that this step is an important step towards exporting relations with India.
In a press conference organized by the US Chambers of Commerce, Ross responded to a question, saying that granting STA-1 status to India indicates how deep the security and economic relationship between the two countries is.
At present, there are 36 countries with STA-1 status After Japan and South Korea, India is the third country in Asia which has joined this line. So far India had the status of STA-2.
Secretary Ross said that after this step India will be able to supply high technology and products. They said this will further strengthen the relations between the two countries and India will get the license in less time.
According to the US Department of Commerce, those countries who join the STA-1 category are entitled to receive products and technologies related to National Security, Chemical or Biological Weapon, Nuclear Non-Proliferation, Regional Stability and Crime Control.
After getting status of STA-1, 50 percent of the items exported from India to India at this time no longer need any license. This will make exports of $ 2.1 billion easier so that the US exporters will become stronger at the global level, while India will be able to get technical support.
Says Ben Schwartz of the India-US Business Council (UIBC), “It is an important step. This step proves that the American government is now beginning to rely on the Indian government. ”
He said, “Since India had attained the rank of Major Defense Partner, the US Government was discussing with the Indian Government and the U.I.C.C. about how we can strengthen the security and economic relations of both the countries.” ‘
Ben said that after the decision, India’s claim to join the NSG will be much stronger. He said that even though joining the NSG is not alone in India’s bus but India’s noble intentions need to understand the rest of the country as well.
